Hong Kong, a Special Administrative Region of China, has never had its own anthem. As a colony of the United Kingdom from 1842 to 1997, it used the anthem of that country as its official anthem, and after control was given back to China, the Chinese anthem has been used to represent Hong Kong.

After months of lockdown and restrictions in response to COVID-19, Hong Kong has finally reopened. The city has grappled with the pandemic since early 2020 when the local authorities implemented measures to contain the spread of the virus. This included ramped up testing, promoting social distancing, and imposing restrictions on gatherings. With the number of cases down dramatically, the Hong Kong government eased restrictions, allowing businesses to reopen and people to resume their daily routines.
